OCEAN CITY, Md.— And the wheel is back.
Controversy struck earlier this month surrounding the placement of Trimper's Rides' 149-foot-tall Ferris wheel, as the contraption reached at least 10 feet over the park's property line edging the Boardwalk.
The situation seemed to reach conclusion by June 9, after the amusement park informed town officials it would move the ride off town property.
Now, it's open once again.
"It’s baaaaack!!" the park posted to Facebook on Saturday. "Go round and round on the 149ft OC Big Wheel!!"
Questions about the wheel's proximity to the Ocean City Boardwalk arose in early June.
Trimper's and Ocean City were in ongoing communication after the Town Council ordered the park to move its ride off the Boardwalk on Monday, June 7. The park had until Tuesday, June 8, to develop a plan and inform the town about how it would rectify the situation.
That night, Trimper's President Antoinette Bruno said the Ferris wheel's incorrect placement was the result of human error, adding "I think we made an error of a few inches, and we're sorry. It wasn't intentional."

The Big Wheel had been shut down to visitors, but Ocean City informed the park it would continue issuing fines for the zoning violation until the wheel left the Boardwalk. Trimper's had received multiple fines from Ocean City before the situation could be resolved.
Trimper’s contracted a surveyor who found the ride is at least 10 feet over the park’s property line, according to town leaders who reviewed the survey June 7. Bruno told town leaders it would cost in excess of $100,000 to move the Ferris wheel and nearby rides.
