In a Facebook post, CHP Oakland said the black Chevrolet Tahoe lost its right front wheel on the westbound of the I-80. It happened west of the Appian Way.
According to CHP, the wheel entered the eastward lane of the I-80 at highway speed, collided with the Audi Q5, then bounced back into the westward lane and hit the windshield of the Kia SUV.
CHP Auckland responded at around 12:40 pm, and police officers arriving confirmed that the driver was in critical condition. She was seriously injured and taken to a trauma center.
Authorities are still investigating why the wheels have moved away from Tahoe.
