Who is the most important person in the world and what is the most important and strongest emotion? When I think of my mother a warm feeling comes over me because I equate her with warmth and love, even though she has been gone a long time.

I get emotional when I think of her because I have experienced that love. The level of a mother’s love would be difficult to measure. It starts when she holds her newborn infant and looks into its eyes.

Just how important is a mother to her family? Can it even be measured? How important are mothers to our society?

The saying “the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world” I believe is true, because a love that is strong enough to impart discipline as well, and shows the right path guides her children to become good people and good citizens. The song that has a lyric that says “God bless the child that’s got his own” to me means, the child is blessed to have a loving home.

My Uncle Frank, my mother’s brother, had a saying “family, that’s what its all about.” Where does one learn empathy, the value of relationships, honesty, compassion, truthfulness, etc., but in the home. Sure these things can be learned later in life but it is more difficult. Learned when young and in the home it becomes part of who you are and develops a good conscience.

The mother is the central figure of her family as the hub is to the wheel. Her value should be proclaimed in the pulpit, by the politicians, and the media. Of course Dad is extremely important too, but this is Mother’s Day and we celebrate her. God bless all the mothers.
