TEMECULA, CA — A Temecula woman who works as a tasting room manager at a local winery won the $100,000 grand prize in the Bonus Round of "Wheel of Fortune" that aired Monday night on abc7, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced.
In total, Victoria Rice took home $123,600 in cash and prizes, including a trip to Cancun, according to SPE.
"I can't believe it! I'm in shock," Rice said after her big win.
"Victoria is a tasting room manager at a winery and is a Level 2 sommelier. She has been a Wheel Watcher ever since she was a little girl and describes herself a 'crazy Wheel of Fortune fan' who watches the show every night with her boyfriend of 10 years, Ben," according to SPE.
During her conversation with "Wheel of Fortune" host Pat Sajak, Rice said she was initially too shy to upload a video application to be a contestant on the show.
"Later on, every time my boyfriend and I would watch Wheel of Fortune together and I would solve a puzzle, he would say 'that could have been you!' I got sick of him saying it, so I applied, and here I am today!"
SPE reported that "right after taping her episode, Victoria called Ben to tell him the big news and thanked him for pestering her to the point where she finally applied. His response was, 'After years of badgering you, I can finally say 'I told you so.'"
Rice plans to use her "Wheel of Fortune" cash winnings to travel with her boyfriend to Europe, where she hopes to further her wine education in Italy, Spain and France. Additional winnings will go toward a new car, she told SPE.
Rice's episode occurred during Wheel of Fortune's "Margaritaville Resorts Family Vacation Week," where contestants compete on a custom set, including images from Margaritaville Hotels & Resorts and Margaritaville-branded products. All week long, contestants spin the iconic Wheel to win luxury vacations at Margaritaville Hotels & Resorts including those in Florida, The Great Smoky Mountains, and the Caribbean.
