18-wheeler driver falls asleep at wheel, survives crash - Houston Chronicle

An 18-wheeler traveling west on the Grand Parkway crashed into the center divider and then crossed over into oncoming traffic after falling asleep at the wheel, according to the Harris County Sheriff's office.

A woman driving a white Hyundai swerved to get out of the way of the 18-wheeler. The woman was not injured, but was taken into custody on suspicion of DWI. The truck driver also was not injured.

Harris County Sheriff's Office and Klein Fire Department  were dispatched around 1 a.m. to 9347 N Grand Parkway West.

The truck was carrying diesel that spilled during the crash. The road was closed for at least an hour while a hazmat team cleaned up the spill.
