The 150-foot tall SkyStar Wheel first arrived in Golden Gate Park a year ago with the expectation that it would open in April 2020 for the park's 150th anniversary. Obviously, those plans were put on hold and the wheel eventually opened for several weeks last fall before having to shut down again. As San Francisco is back in the state's red tier it is set to reopen on March 4th at 12PM.
This reopening comes a week after two city supervisors called for an investigation into the nonprofit San Francisco Parks Alliance, which is overseeing the contract for the 150-foot tall Ferris wheel in Golden Gate Park. The supervisors are raising concerns because a corruption investigation last year found instances of city agencies using nonprofit organizations to encourage contractors seeking lucrative contracts to make large donations. Bird activists and neighbors have also complained about the wheel since its installation.
For now the wheel will get back to spinning & tickets are now available through next year at $18 right here.
