Two more concerts have been added to the Central New York calendar as optimism grows for live events this summer.
Fitz and the Tantrums will perform at Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards in LaFayette, N.Y., on Friday, July 9, 2021. Doors open at 5 p.m., music starts at 7.
Tickets go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m. at beakandskiff.com with promo code DREAM. Tickets are sold “POD style” in pods of two or four tickets at $90 or $180, plus fees.
Fitz and the Tantrums, a pop-rock-soul band best known for the 2016 hit “HandClap,” is the second new addition to Beak & Skiff’s Summer Concert Series. Funky jam band Pigeons Playing Ping Pong will perform back-to-back shows on June 18 and 19, ahead of shows rescheduled from 2020 like Indigo Girls on June 26 and Primus on July 5.
Meanwhile, the Homer Center for the Arts announced a drive-in concert by Asleep at the Wheel at Dwyer Memorial Park in Preble on July 20. The socially distanced “concert in a car” begins at 8 p.m.
Tickets for Asleep at the Wheel go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at eventbrite.com.
The show will celebrate the Grammy-winning country group’s 50th anniversary.
All shows are subject to New York state Covid-19 restrictions. Beak & Skiff says guests will be required to undergo a health check (temperature check and short questionnaire) before entering, must wear masks, enter with Pod (group) at same time, and no eating or drinking outside of their designated Grid; guests will receive one verbal warning before being asked to leave.
