He’s a marathon runner who sprinted to victory on the “Wheel of Fortune” episode which aired on Thursday, February 25.
Kyle Baird, who is from Grosse Pointe in Metro Detroit, dominated his opponents en route to winning $72,000 in cash and prizes, including a Ford Mustang convertible.
Baird is currently an MBA student at UCLA Anderson School of Management. He’s the co-president of his school’s largest student-run charitable organization, Challenge for Charity, which helps kids and teens with Junior Achievement as well as individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports with Special Olympics.
Baird solved one of the first two toss-up puzzles to go into a tie for first with $2,000. He won big bucks, $10,600, solving the first main puzzle to give him a nice early lead by over $10,000 of second place.
The second main puzzle was solved by one of his opponents, who won $7,050, bringing her within a few thousand of Baird. But he solved the third puzzle for $1,900, plus a trip to Antigua, adding $9,320 on top of that giving him a huge lead over second place.
He solved two of the last three toss-ups for another $4,000, extending his lead. The final puzzle went to the third place contestant. It wasn’t enough to catch Baird who finished with $27,820 going into the final round.
BONUS ROUND
“Food and Drink” was the category. Baird received almost every letter and easily solved “Barbecue Sauce.” His grand prize: A Ford Mustang convertible valued at $44,570. Adding the cash and his trip to Antigua and his winnings totaled $72,390.
