VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Michigan woman found asleep at the wheel of a running car in Vermillion County early Sunday morning is now facing a felony OWI charge.
Lorrie A. Miller, 57, of Sterling Heights, Mich. was arrested after dispatchers received calls of a car running off into a ditch in the Perrysville area and then continuing to drive on.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle parked at the Pilot gas station at State Road 63 and CR 1650 N. The vehicle was still running, and Miller was slumped over the steering wheel asleep.
After being woken by deputies, Miller failed a field sobriety test and a portable breath test at the scene.
She was booked on initial charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction and operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment.
