The turmoil of 2020 is even getting to Pat Sajak, who sarcastically but brashly called out a contestant on the Nov. 25 Wheel of Fortune episode for being “ungrateful.” And fans still aren’t over it.

It all started when player Darin McBain was asked to name four things that “begin with the word kitchen.” He guessed all four correctly—cabinet, oven, towels, and sink—but pointed out to Sajak that there’s no such thing as a “kitchen oven.” It’s just an oven… right?

“Kitchen oven?” McBain said. “What was that? Who calls it a ‘kitchen oven?’”

Sajak replied, “Yeah, where else would you keep an oven?” to which McBain responded, “For sure in the kitchen, but who calls it a ‘kitchen oven?’”

That’s when Sajak’s tone took a turn and surprised everyone. “Don’t! You won! Don’t argue, Darin! … You got the puzzle. Ungrateful players! I’ve had it!” Sajak squawked, his brow furrowed. Then, likely realizing his volume and passion, he quickly retracted the remarks. “No, I’m just teasing,” the host said. “I finally snapped!” In his nearly 40 years of leading Wheel of Fortune, he’s never come unglued like that.

But hey, everyone has off days—even Sajak. Unfortunately for him though, some viewers took McBain’s side. “I agree...who calls it a kitchen oven,” one tweeted. “Kitchen oven is like saying bathroom toilet,” another wrote. “I’d like to thank Darin on Wheel of Fortune for calling out the inaneness [sic] of ‘kitchen oven,’” another added.

Another tweeted, “I thought I was the only one questioning this ‘kitchen oven’ answer. Pat’s acting like he’s paying out the money.”

Others were simply floored by the interaction, and some found it funny. “Oh my @patsajak almost lost it on this dude,” one person tweeted. “Pat’s not having it tonight,” another added. “Cooking in my ‘kitchen oven.’ But I’m seriously considering a living room oven,” another jokingly wrote. “Thanks for the idea, @patsajak!”

Later in the episode, Sajak apologized again, playfully comparing McBain to his mom, who had a victorious three-day run on the game show in 1982, per Yahoo! News. “I’m sorry I yelled at you, Darin,” the host said. “I just don’t remember your mother giving us trouble like you did.” McBain ended up taking second place, his winnings totaling $15,350.
