OLIVE TWP. — A Holland woman was injured after the driver of a car fell asleep at the wheel.
The crash took place at 6:02 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, on southbound U.S.-31 near Blair Street in Olive Township.
A 28-year-old Holland man was driving a 2002 Toyota Avalon southbound on U.S.-31 with a 25-year-old Holland woman in the passenger seat.
Police said the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The Avalon drifted off the east side of the highway, which woke up the driver. The driver then over-corrected, lost control of the car and drove off the west side of the highway, striking several trees.
The driver was uninjured, but his passenger was transported to Holland Hospital. She suffered non-life threatening injuries and is listed in good condition.
