If you’re a fan of the Cadillac Escalade, you’ll want to bring home the new fifth-generation model. The 2021 Escalade has been completely redesigned. Not only does it have the brand’s exclusive Super Cruise semi-autonomous system, but it also has more interior space and advanced safety features. You can also choose the class-exclusive diesel engine option for even more potency under the hood.
Another Luxurious Option: Get the scoop on the 2021 Cadillac XT6
Exterior
The exterior of the 2021 Escalade is just as bold and majestic as previous model years. Each trim comes with 22-inch wheels for an assertive stance, as well as sleeker LED headlamps and 3-foot-long LED taillamps that are as handsome as they are functional. Go with the Sport trim for a blacked-out V-Series-inspired grille that gives an edgy vibe.
Interior
Inside, the 2021 Escalade is as luxurious, high-tech, and accommodating as you’d expect for a new generation of this beloved full-size SUV. One of the most distinct upgrades is the 38-inch curved Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) infotainment screen built into the dashboard. Comprised of three separate panels, this system lets you access augmented-reality directions at the touch of your fingertips.
Thanks to a longer frame, the 2021 Escalade also has more room inside, especially for backseat passengers. The new model has a maximum cargo space of 121 cubic feet, compared to the outgoing model year’s 94.2 cubic feet). And second-row passengers get two more inches of legroom, while third-row passengers get 10.1 inches more legroom.
Available heated and ventilated front seats with massage settings make it easy for you and one other passenger to relax on long drives. Add on the UltraView sunroof option to maximize the amount of natural light that enters the cabin.
Infotainment and technology
Cadillac has outfitted the 2021 Escalade with next-level infotainment and technologies for a lavish and connected driving experience. For starters, the ambient lighting system has 18 different color options so you can change the cabin’s hue to suit your mood.
And each trim comes standard with a 19-speaker AKG Studio sound system. Though, you can upgrade to the available 36-speaker AKG Studio Reference sound system to satisfy your inner audiophile. Not only does this second system elevate playlists, but it also comes with built-in microphones. This means that back-row passengers can join in the driver and front passenger’s conversation.
Performance
For 2021, the Escalade automatically comes with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that churns out a stunning 420 horsepower. However, you can also choose the available diesel engine, which is a new option for the model year.
And the fifth-gen Escalade boasts a smoother ride quality than the 2020 version. That’s because Cadillac has equipped it with a new independent rear suspension. Higher trims offer Magnetic Ride Control suspension, which is the fastest-reacting suspension system in the world, according to the automaker.
Safety
The 2021 Escalade has advanced driver-assist tools to boost your confidence on each drive. These include the following: Rear Pedestrian Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, HD Surround Vision, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and Automatic Seat Belt Tightening.
You can also select the available Night Vision System for more visibility when driving in the dark. The available full-color Head-Up Display makes it easier to keep your eyes on the road ahead while accessing directions and other important information you need while you’re behind the wheel.
If you wait till early 2021 to bring home an Escalade, you can add on Super Cruise to your SUV. This semi-autonomous system lets you take your hands off the wheel on certain highway routes, while the technology automatically takes over the role of driving for you.
