A new video teaser for Amazon’s Wheel of Time TV show reveals a first look at the Two Rivers. Penned by Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time novels spanned 14 volumes and became the best-selling fantasy series since The Lord of The Rings - which Amazon is also bringing to the small screen. The one-hour action fantasy series, which incorporates elements of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Christianity into its story, has slated Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) for the leading role of Moiraine.

Hailed for its detailed imaginary world and impeccably developed magic system, Wheel of Time follows Moiraine Damodred, a member of the all-female organization the Aes Sedai, as she embarks on a perilous mission. Located in an unnamed world where magic can only be used by women, Moiraine recruits five young men and women on her journey, believing one of them to be the Dragon Reborn - who has the power to either save humanity or destroy it. Attempting to keep fans in the loop, Amazon has been hosting a read-along of the first book, The Eye of the World, via Twitter, for the past several months. Now, Amazon has finally unveiled a look at a key location of the fantasy series.

Posted on The Wheel of Time’s Twitter account, an official look at Emond’s Field, a village in the Two Rivers district, was revealed. Located in the Westlands, the Two Rivers derives its name from the rivers that mark its northern and southern boundaries: the Taren River and the White River. The short video from the Wheel of Time set scrolls over the pages of the novel and pans out to reveal the Winespring Inn in Emon’s Field. Check out the long-awaited look at the village below:

Produced by Rafe Judkins (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), Wheel of Time has been in production for over a year. Production was halted back in March due to coronavirus concerns, but has since resumed this month. In addition to Pike as the sorceress Moiraine, the cast also includes Joshua Stradowski as Rand al’ Thor, Sophie Okodeno as Amyrlin Seat, Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’ Vere, and Kate Fleetwood as Liandrin. As of this writing, Amazon is eyeing a 2021 release date for the epic fantasy series.

Fantasy fans suffered a loss with the end of HBO’s Game of Thrones last year. However, Amazon has made a wise move in greenlighting series for both The Wheel of Time and Lord of the Rings. Wheel of Time has long resonated with fans for its endlessly fascinating world, complex characters, and the powerful women at its core. Now, those familiar with the novels, as well as those seeking out a new action fantasy, have a series to dive into. For all the Wheel of Time fans anxiously awaiting the adaptation too, a look at the pivotal location of Emond’s Field in the Two Rivers should no doubt heighten their anticipation for the Amazon series.
