Back in July, Florida-based wheel manufacturer Vossen released a video showing what its new Hybrid Forged HF6-3 alloy wheels looked like on a Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Now the company, which operates out of Miami, has released yet another video showcasing its Hybrid Forged HF6-3 wheels – but this time on a GMC Sierra 1500.
Whereas the Hybrid Forged HF6-3 wheels featured on the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 were painted gloss black, the owner of this GMC Sierra has gone for a machine-faced finish on the wheels that gives the pickup a more premium look and feel, in our opinion. This is fitting, seeing as the GMC Sierra is typically positioned as a more upscale alternative to the Silverado.
The Silverado 1500 previously featured by Vossen was also heavily modified with lowered suspension and a complete body kit from Mexican-based supplier Air Design Global. This GMC Sierra, by comparison, is almost stock. The Vossen wheels, tinted windows and lowered suspension are the only modifications we can spot here. That said, this truck didn’t need too much custom work to look good, with the factory chrome grille, mirror caps and exterior trim matching the shiny machine face wheels quite well.
Vossen says its Hybrid Forged Series of wheels “utilizes flow forming to cut down on weight and increase strength.” For those who may not know, flow forming is a manufacturing process in which the wheel is purposefully cast at a thinner diameter than needed and then spun at high speed as pressure is applied to the inner barrel of the wheel. This process stretches the aluminum to the size and shape of the final product. The company says this process increases tensile strength and also allows “for a great range of wheel widths within each design.”
