General Motors dropped a teaser video for the upcoming 2022 GMC Hummer EV late in July, sparking a flurry of speculation and providing some insight with regard to what the battery-powered utility will offer. Now, GM Authority is here to report on a fresh development with the reveal of a new GMC Hummer EV wheel design.
The image seen here shows what appears to be the 2022 GMC Hummer EV stripped down to its bare platform and battery pack, with large electric motors placed at either end. Next to the motors are the new Hummer wheels.
The wheels come with a silver finish and intricate pocketed-spoke design. The design uses a concave face for added depth, as well as faux beadlocks around the perimeter of the wheel face. In the center of the wheel, the Hummer logo is displayed in black.
It’s currently unclear if this particular wheel design will be standard or optional with the 2022 GMC Hummer EV.
Last month, we got an eyeful of a separate GMC Hummer EV wheel with a slightly more open-spoke design and polished finish. These new wheels appear to have a smaller overall diameter compared to the wheels seen in the original teaser video.

As a reminder, the GMC Hummer EV will be offered as both an SUV and a pickup truck, with the latter referred to as a “Sport Utility Truck,” or SUT. Both body styles will ride on the new GM BT1 electric vehicle platform and will feature the automaker’s latest Ultium battery technology, both of which are featured in these new photos. Range-per-charge is expected to top out at 400 miles for certain models.
The powertrain will consist of three separate motor configurations, including a single-motor, dual-motor, and three-motor setup. Max output will hit at 1,000 horsepower, propelling the GMC Hummer EV to 60 mph in just three seconds. Vehicle production is expected to take place at the GM Detroit-Hamtramck facility. Look for a full reveal in the fall.
