The Reds’ big trade deadline move for 2020 happened 13 months ago when the team acquired Trevor Bauer on the eve of the 2019 deadline. This year’s version of the trade deadline is coming up at 4 p.m. Monday, but don’t expect the Reds to garner the headlines again this year.
The Link LonkAt 15-19, David Bell’s team is hardly fine-tuning for a final playoff push. This is a team that has some questions, such as an underperforming offense, no solution at the top of the order and uncertainty in the bullpen.
Bauer would bring back the most in return if the Reds did trade, but it’s hard to see that happening with the team just a game-and-a-half back for the second spot in the division and two games back in the wild-card race. Sixteen teams will make the playoffs this year, so a .500 record seems like the bar to approach to earn a berth.
