'Wheel of Fortune' Host Pat Sajak Snarkily Calls Contestant 'Ungrateful,' Sparking Fan Reactions on Twitter - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak is known for being good-natured and fun when speaking with contestants on the popular game show. However, his teasing got a little snarky during a recent episode, leading to some strong fan reactions on Twitter.

The incident occurred after the longtime host called a contestant “ungrateful” after he mocked the correct answer to a puzzle. Sajak was clearly kidding around during the exchange. But that wasn’t enough to stop fans from making their opinions known on the whole exchange.

Pat Sajak has hosted ‘Wheel of Fortune’ for close to 4 decades

There was always a friendly rivalry between Sajak and fellow game show host Alex Trebek on Jeopardy!. However, though Trebek was arguably the more famous of the two, Sajak is the one who earned the Guinness Book of World Records title for the Longest Career as a Game Show Host of the Same Show.

Over that time, Wheel of Fortune became a national phenomenon thanks to the spinning wheel and challenging word puzzles that were fun to solve. Sajak and his assistant, Vanna White, became as integral to the show as the cash prizes and vacations. Audiences loved them.

He got a little sarcastic with a ‘Wheel of Fortune’ contestant

Sajak is usually so friendly with the contestants who come on Wheel of Fortune and doesn’t typically make jokes at their expense. That’s what made it so surprising that he had a weird interaction with Darin McBain during a Nov. 2020 episode.

The contestant, whose mother also appeared on Wheel of Fortune in 1982, voiced his confusion over answers to a clue he got correct, NY Post reported. McBain correctly guessed “cabinet, oven, towels, sink” after being instructed to come up with four things that began with the word kitchen. But he stressed to Sajak that there’s no such thing as a “kitchen oven.”

“Kitchen oven?” McBain retorted. “What was that? Who calls it a ‘kitchen oven?’”

And Sajak dished it right back to him. “Don’t! You won! Don’t argue, Darin,” he said. “You got the puzzle. Ungrateful players! I’ve had it!”

But to prove it was all in jest, he continued, “No, I’m just teasing. I finally snapped!”

Twitter fans reacted to Pat Sajak’s outburst

There’s no question that Sajak was just joking with McBain when he called him “ungrateful.” But despite this fact, Wheel of Fortune fans on Twitter reacted to the outburst by assuming there was some truth to it.

In a thread featuring a video clip of the segment, fans blasted Sajak’s little rant, saying it masked some deeper aspects of his character that usually stay hidden. They claimed this snarkier side of the longtime host has been simmering under the surface for years now. Still, others found the whole thing hilarious, which is how it was intended anyway.

In the end, McBain went home with $15,350 and an apology from the show’s host. “I’m sorry I yelled at you,” Sajak said. “It’s just — I don’t remember your mother giving us trouble like you did.”

'Wheel of Fortune' host Pat Sajak playfully mocks contestant - Today.com

wheel.indah.link

Maybe the stress of “consonantly” dealing with contestants has gotten to Pat Sajak.

The longtime “Wheel of Fortune” host had a not-so-serious meltdown during an episode last week after a contestant who solved a puzzle pointed out that he felt it was somewhat inaccurate.

Watch TODAY All Day! Get the best news, information and inspiration from TODAY, all day long.

Darin McBain, whose mother was a three-day champion 38 years ago during Vanna White’s first episode, solved the crossword for things that start with the word “kitchen,” correctly naming “cabinet, oven, towels, sink.”

That’s when things got bumpier than landing on bankrupt, though.

“Kitchen oven? What was that?” McBain wondered aloud.

April 11, 201801:07

“Yeah, where else would you keep an oven?” Sajak, 74, retorted.

“Well, for sure in the kitchen, but who calls it a ‘kitchen oven?’” McBain replied.

At that point, Sajak playfully went off the rails.

“You won! Don’t argue, Darin! You got the puzzle!" he joked. "Ungrateful players! I’ve had it! I’m just teasing. I finally snapped!”

Jan. 7, 202000:27

Sajak, who’s been hosting “Wheel of Fortune” since 1981, hasn’t lasted this long hosting the popular show by chastising players, though, so he made amends before the episode ended when saying goodbye to McBain, who finished in second place.

“I’m sorry I yelled at you, Darin. I just don’t remember your mother giving us trouble like you did,” he said, while keeping things light as he addressed the faux controversy.

Eat This, Not That!

Simple Ways to Avoid a Heart Attack, According to Doctors

When you want to build muscle, you go to a personal trainer. When you want to build your heart muscle, well, who better to treat, protect and feed the organ pumping literal lifeblood through your veins than a cardiologist?Eat This, Not That! Health went straight to the country's best to ask how they keep their tickers in tip-top shape. Given that heart disease is the leading killer of both men and women in the United States—and it makes up about one in every four deaths—we're glad we did. Read on, and to ensure your health and the health of others, don't miss these Sure Signs You've Already Had Coronavirus. 1 Get a Flu Shot Flu? And heart health? What's the connection? This: Adults over 65 are more likely to experience fatal flu complications, including heart attacks. That's why cardiologists like Allen J. Taylor, MD, Chair of Cardiology at the MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute, get flu shots every year. "Many individuals are unaware that their risk of a heart attack increases by up to 10 times in the days and weeks after an acute flu infection," he says. 2 Get a Physical Every Year Raise your hand if you only go to the doctor when something's wrong. While that's not uncommon, it's better to prevent a problem (when possible) then to an illness. That's why cardiologists like Tarak Rambhatla, MD, opt for yearly physicals to suss out potential issues."Even if we feel healthy now, the point of this is to avoid a heart attack in the next 10 to 20 years. If we have underlying cardiac risk factors that we don't realize, those can progress to real disease in 10-15 years," he says. "If you at least know those numbers, it will give you a good framework for identifying risk factors [for heart attacks and disease]." 3 You Know, Do It OK, we didn't ask cardiologists about their sex lives—you get enough of that on Grey's Anatomy. But we know that they know that sex provides heart healthy benefits. "The protective benefits may be many: Sex is a form of exercise and helps strengthen your heart, lower your blood pressure, reduce stress and improve sleep. In addition, intimacy in a relationship can increase bonding," reports Johns Hopkins. And "strong social connections," says Dr. Michael Blaha, M.D., M.P.H., director of clinical research at the Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease, "can lower feelings of loneliness, depression and anxiety, which have been linked to higher heart disease risk." 4 Get Your Steps In The American Heart Association recommends getting in 75 minutes of moderately intense exercise every week to keep your ticker going strong—a number that can seem impossible with the demands of work and family life. The solution? Work your workout into your everyday life, like Roger Blumenthal, MD, a cardiologist at Johns Hopkins Medicine."I wear a pedometer each day to monitor the number of steps I walk a day," says the American Heart Association volunteer expert. "I try to make 7,500 steps—about three miles—my minimum each and every day. If one does not have a pedometer they can often track the number of steps and distance walked on a smartphone (like the iPhone) or on a FitBit or Apple Watch." 5 Keep the Sodium to a Minimum Here's a scary stat: People who regularly eat fast food consume 50 percent more than the recommended daily intake for sodium, according to a study published in the AHA journal Circulation. While the American Heart Association recommends 2,300 mg of sodium a day maximum, the average adult consumes more than 3,400 mg. This can spell trouble for your health because sodium is one of the leading contributors to high blood pressure, one of the risk factors for heart disease and heart attacks.Avoid those risks by limiting added salt as much as possible."For packaged foods, the nutrition fact panel may be useful in identifying lower sodium products, and for menu items, diners can request sodium content information," said the study's lead researcher, Lisa J. Harnack, Dr.PH., professor at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. "Also, if you frequently add salt to food at the table or in home food preparation, consider using less." 6 Stay Away From Processed Foods Do you frequently dine on frozen dinners, canned, and packaged baked goods? Barbara Hudson Roberts, MD, a cardiologist and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Brown University, wishes you wouldn't."The number one rule this cardiologist follows for healthy eating is to consume food that's been monkeyed with by human beings as little as possible," she says. "Ditch the processed food and embrace your inner chef." The reason: Two large—and recent—studies showed that so-called "ultraprocessed" foods are linked to an increased risk of heart disease and premature death. One of the studies, conducted in France, found that there was a 12 percent increase in the risk of cardiovascular disease for every 10 percent increase in ultraprocessed food the study subjects ate—even after accounting for other factors like age, body mass index, smoking and alcohol consumption, and physical activity. 7 Eat Heart-Healthy Fats Donna Arnett, American Heart Association volunteer expert, says her biggest tip is to "choose fats wisely." "Nuts, avocados and fatty fish are good choices," she says. The reason: They're all chock full of omega-3 fatty acids, a type of unsaturated fat that helps reduce inflammation in the body known to cause heart disease and other health issues. 8 Limit Red Meat Red meat has long been connected to heart disease—thanks to the amount of saturated fat found inside—but another study led by Stanley Hazen, MD, PhD, head of the Section for Preventive Cardiology and Rehabilitation at the Cleveland Clinic found that Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO), a dietary byproduct formed from digesting red meat, can be a contributor to heart disease. In the study, the levels of TMAO increased in the group who ate a diet heavy in red meats. The levels decreased once they switched to eat a no-meat or white-meat diet for a month. "This study shows for the first time what a dramatic effect changing your diet has on levels of TMAO, which is increasingly linked to heart disease," Hazen says. 9 Eat Plenty of Veggies Vegetables are packed full of antioxidants that keep free radicals away—the free radicals that can cause heart-hurting inflammation. That's why cardiologists pack their plates full of colorful vegetables. "Make half of your lunch and dinner plate vegetables with a variety of colors," Arnett recommends."Eating foods that are fresh from the ground or from trees without labels and additives is the best way to eat," adds Suzanne Steinbaum, cardiologist, American Heart Association volunteer expert and director of Women's Heart Health at the Heart and Vascular Institute, Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. 10 Avoid Foods That Are Labeled 'Low Fat' Sometimes it's impossible to avoid eating processed foods. In those times, Roberts recommends reading food labels first."Avoid anything labeled 'low fat'," she says. They've usually replaced the fat with something worse.RELATED: COVID Symptoms Usually Appear in This Order, Study Finds 11 Avoid Sugar There's a reason why cardiologists like Roberts avoid low-fat foods: Food makers have to make up for the taste the fat adds to the food, usually in the form of sugar."Sugar is your enemy so phase it out and learn the many names it can be called to fool you," Roberts adds. There's data to back up her comments: The results of a 15-year study published in JAMA Internal Medicine in 2014 found that participants who ate 25 percent of their daily calories as sugar were twice as likely to experience fatal heart disease than those who only ate 10 percent. 12 Partake in 'Meatless Mondays' Adding a "meatless" day to the weekly meal rotation is one way cardiologists cut down on red meat—and the saturated fat that can come with it. "It's also fun to start a 'Meatless Monday' tradition with your family and see what recipes you can come up with," says Dharmarajan. 13 Meal Plan Avoiding sodium-packed meals and processed foods is vital for heart health, but it's hard to beat their convenience. You can stay heart-healthy with your meals by following Dharmarajan's lead and preparing meals in advance."If my family and I plan for our meals throughout the week, we're more likely to keep up healthy eating habits rather than go out for food or order in," he says. "The freezer is definitely my friend: we often prepare and freeze several healthy dinner options that are ready to pull out on the day we want to eat them." 14 Pump Iron Every Week While typical cardio exercise—like walking and running—is often prescribed to help keep your heart strong, cardiologists also know that building muscle mass through resistance training is important, too. The heart is a muscle, after all."Recent studies show that even a little weight training could reduce your risk of heart attack or stroke," says Dharmarajan. 15 Unglue Yourself Cardiologists—like most of us—are glued to their phones. While they have to be available for work reasons, they also know the value in shutting down. And they're right: A recent study by the American Psychological Association found that "constant checkers"—or people who are always looking at social media, email, and other apps on their smartphones—are more stressed than those who aren't. "Take a holiday from your smart devices on the weekend," recommends Nieca Goldberg, MD, a cardiologist and American Heart Association volunteer expert. "Choose a weekend day to take a break." 16 Limit Stress Whenever Possible There's a reason why cardiologists like Dr. Golgberg recommend limiting stress: It can do a number on your heart if not controlled. The reason: Stress can increase adrenaline, a hormone that kicks in your "fight or flight" response—and increases your heart rate and blood pressure. Keeping those numbers elevated creates an inflammatory response in the body, which in turn can cause heart issues, including heart disease and even heart attacks. 17 Drink Coffee Worried that your morning cup—or three—of joe will hurt your heart? Don't be. "Fortunately, coffee is still OK and even somewhat protective for heart disease and diabetes," says Richard Collins, MD, a cardiologist based in Littleton, Colorado.A recent study conducted by researchers at Queen Mary University of London found that even drinking as many as 25 cups of coffee a day won't impact your heart. While most of us don't drink that much, another study by German researchers found that drinking four cups can help endothelial cells—or cells that line the inside of blood vessels—function better, which in turn can help the heart pump blood more effectively. 18 Start Your Day with Protein "I have one cup of Greek yogurt with strawberries and blueberries, or bananas and blueberries," Dr. Evelina Grayver, Director of the Coronary Care Unit at the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital, told Northwell Health. "Having protein like Greek yogurt early in the morning keeps you full until lunch to help you avoid reaching for unhealthy snacks. Protein will also allow for a significant amount of stabilization in your blood sugar. Blueberries have been shown to lower your blood pressure and reduce your blood cholesterol levels." Plus: "They have significant antioxidant levels in them and prevent inflammatory spikes." 19 End Your Day with Protein, Too Dr. Rohan Bhansali, Chief of Cardiology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, enjoys salmon with roast asparagus for dinner. "Asparagus has a lot of fiber, and fiber decreases our body's insulin response, which helps decrease inflammation," he told Northwell Health. "The omega 3 in salmon also helps manage inflammation, which is part of what causes heart disease." 20 Yes, Eat Dessert While cardiologists do try to stay away from added sugars, they do still enjoy dessert from time to time—they just make better choices. Sharlene Day, MD, a cardiologist at Michigan Medicine, only eats ice cream once in a while, she does indulge in frozen yogurt or fruit sorbet a lot more often. "It tastes good, it's not high in fat and not too high in calories," she says.RELATED: Unhealthiest Habits on the Planet, According to Doctors 21 Try to Stay Balanced "There isn't a food that will save your life … And there isn't one that's going to kill you. It is about balance," said Dr. Sharonne Hayes, professor of cardiovascular medicine and founder of the Women's Heart Clinic at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, told the Today Show. She's a vegetarian, and recommends plant-based proteins. 22 Yes, Eat Eggs "From what we know today, here's the bottom line: for most people, an egg a day does not increase your risk of a heart attack, a stroke, or any other type of cardiovascular disease," Anthony Komaroff, MD, tells Harvard Health "No more than three eggs per week is wise if you have diabetes, are at high risk for heart disease from other causes (such as smoking), or already have heart disease." 23 Follow the Mediterranean Diet "I am a pescatarian—I eat fish, vegetables, and no meat and for the most part follow the Mediterranean diet," writes Dr. Gary Gabelman, cardiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital and assistant clinical professor of medicine at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons "It has all the basics of healthy eating and whole and natural foods—plus a splash of flavorful olive oil and perhaps a glass of red wine. Research shows that the traditional Mediterranean diet reduces the risk of heart disease, and it's been associated with lowering the 'bad' cholesterol that's more likely to build up deposits in your arteries. It's a healthy way to diet and not hard to follow or maintain." 24 Don't Smoke While the number of Americans who smoke goes down every year, the habit is still the leading cause of preventable disease (and death) in the United States, according to the CDC.That's why cardiologists like Kumar Dharmarajan, MD, MBA, a cardiologist, geriatrician, and Chief Scientific Officer at Clover Health, don't ever touch tobacco. "The habit [causes] approximately one of every four heart-related deaths," says Dharmarajan. But deep breath, exhale: "It's never too late to quit — smokers who quit see their heart attack risk drop dramatically just one year after quitting smoking," he adds. 25 Don't Vape or Use E-Cigarettes, Either Vaping is often touted as a safer alternative to smoking because it doesn't include all of the carcinogens that cigarettes have, but recent studies show that vaping can also do a number on your cardiovascular system."Until now, little has been known about cardiovascular events relative to e-cigarette use," says Mohinder Vindhyal, MD, assistant professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine Wichita and the lead author of the study, adding that the data should be "a real wake-up call" about the dangers of vaping and e-cigarettes. 26 Listen to Your Body Our bodies are pretty good at telling us when something is wrong—most of the time. Cardiologists like Dr. Dharmarajan pay attention to what their bodies are telling them. "Chest pain is the most common symptom of a heart attack," says Dharmarajan. While that might seem obvious, there are other less noticeable warning signs that your heart is in danger. "These include shortness of breath, pain or discomfort in either arm or shoulder, and pain in the neck, jaw and back," he says. "Know these symptoms and be prepared to call 911 if you think you might be having a heart attack." 27 See Your Doctor If Something Changes While a yearly physical can clue you in on changes to your overall health, cardiologists know that problems can pop up over time—and not on a predictable schedule. "It's important to be reassessed every few years because our body changes as we age. Sometimes heart disease and its risk factors go undiagnosed until it's too late. 28 Don't Use the "F" Word Dr. David Becker, MD, FACC, has become more careful when discussing weight with his patients. "The "F" word — fat — should be avoided in medical settings," he told the Inquirer. "Telling someone they are overweight is likely much less painful than calling them fat." He goes on to argue that "symptoms such as chest discomfort, shortness of breath, racing heart, or intense fatigue should never be blamed solely on being overweight. A medical workup is crucial to exclude another reason for these symptoms." 29 Keep a Food Diary "If you write down that you had a chocolate chip cookie or a brownie, you will be more likely to understand why you are having trouble losing weight or keeping your blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure within normal limits," writes Dr. Elsa-Grace Giardina, director of the Center for Women's Health in the Division of Cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and professor of medicine at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. 30 Do Yoga "I love yoga for both mental and physical release," says Dr. Emmanuel Moustakakis, director of the coronary care unit at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens and assistant professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. "Yoga is something almost anyone can try at some level — it can start off as simple stretching."RELATED: 7 Side Effects of Wearing a Face Mask 31 Laugh More The cardiologists at UnityPoint Health aren't laughing at you, they're laughing with you. "When we are under stress, our bodies increase our adrenaline and potentially overwork the heart," they say. "Restore your calm by using these stress-taming tips:Laugh moreConnect with friends or familyGet creativeWrite down your feelingsGet some sleepPractice yoga"If you have tried to relieve your stress with tips like these and you find that your stressors are still challenging, seek help," they continue. "Professional therapists or counselors can help identify the source of stress and teach coping mechanisms to better handle it." 32 Start Young "There is accumulating amounts of data that suggest that if you don't pay attention when you're young and middle-aged, then you're really going to get stuck as an older person with cardiovascular disease," Dr. Timothy Jacobson, cardiologist at Kaiser Permanente, told The Oregonian. Keep all of these tips in mind if you have kids. 33 Volunteer In a Medscape survey, "about 70% of cardiologists reported participating in some form of volunteerism…Doing any type of volunteer work was associated with a higher happiness self-rating score." Happier people = happier hearts. "Many cardiologists…said that they volunteered at their children's schools. Other specific groups mentioned were Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts of America, American Heart Association, US Olympic Committee, Loaves and Fishes, and Hope Heart Institute." 34 Do Aerobics…And Tai Chi "For both cardiologists and all physicians, aerobic activities are by far the most common and equally popular exercises," said the Medscape study. "More than 28% of cardiologists chose weight training as their second most favored exercise, with competitive sports and winter sports next in line. About 10% of cardiologists engaged in yoga, tai chi, or other eastern practices, which was below the 14% practiced by all physicians. Among write-in responses, cardiologists expressed major interest in specific aerobic activities, including cycling, elliptical training, and running." 35 Get Your Zzzs Here's a wake up call: "Middle-aged men who sleep five hours or less per night have twice the risk of developing a major cardiovascular event during the following two decades than men who sleep seven to eight hours," according to research presented last year at the European Society of Cardiology Congress. "For people with busy lives, sleeping may feel like a waste of time but our study suggests" otherwise, said study author Ms Moa Bengtsson, of the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. 36 Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day Well, we should hope so. But cardiologists know doing so has heart health benefits. "Brushing your teeth twice a day for at least two minutes may lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases," reported the American Heart Association last year. "Dr. Ann Bolger, a cardiologist and professor of medicine emeritus at the University of California, San Francisco, said gum disease is one of the diseases 'where the body may be in a sort of continual state of inflammation, and this seems to be a very powerful predictor of cardiovascular disease.'"RELATED: Dr. Fauci Says Most People Did This Before Catching COVID 37 Stay Regular "Nearly everyone has 'occasional irregularity,' as the laxative commercials say. But about one in five adults copes with a more chronic form of constipation," reports Harvard Health. That's heartbreaking, but can it break your heart? "There's no question that constipation that requires straining can put the cardiovascular system at risk by raising blood pressure," says Dr. Adolph M. 9 things the first season of The Wheel of Time needs to get right - Winter is Coming

wheel.indah.link

From the costumes to the fantasy creatures to the magic, there’s a lot Amazon’s show has to do right if it’s going to please fans of The Wheel of Time.

With shows based on both The Wheel of Time and The Lord of the Rings on the way, Amazon is hoping to scratch every itch fantasy fans have or ever will have. We’re particularly excited about The Wheel of Time show, since Robert Jordan’s epic book series has never had a worthy adaptation. But it’s a big story, and Amazon will do a lot right if it wants the show to be the next big fantasy hit. Let’s get into what:

1. Costumes

A well-done fantasy outfit catches the eye and inspires cosplayers the world over. A poorly done one just makes you wonder what else is on. Jordan wrote in copious detail about the clothing in his invented world, so The Wheel of Time will have plenty of costumes, coming in many different shapes, styles and hues.

For example, in the books, the desert-dwelling Aiel wear scarves with brown and gray coats and breeches to fade into the background. Compare that with the bright clothing of the traveling Tinkers, and you’ll see how the attire varies vastly from region to region.

The Aes Sedai sorceresses wear everything from ball gowns dripping in jewelry to more practical clothing with fine cuts. Variety is key, but it’s one thing to write about it on paper and another to render it on TV; this show is going to need a lot of fabric and people who know what to do with it.

Viewers don’t want to be distracted by outfits that look out-of-place or plain silly. Vibrant costumes are a hard sell on television, and the ones on The Wheel of Time will have to be well-designed and well-made enough to convince us.

The characters from Emond’s Field — Rand, Mat, Perrin, Egwene and Nynaeve — have a rags-to-riches vibe throughout the books, and change their dress as the story goes on. Personally, I’m on the edge of my seat waiting to see how elaborate and regal Moiraine’s blue dress and shawl will be.

Billionaire Israel Englander Pours Money Into 2 “Strong Buy” Stocks

Following the wild ride that was 2020, where does the market go from here? Major strides have been made in the COVID-19 vaccine race, yet the near-term picture remains unclear, blurred by the virus’ resurgence and the stimulus stalemate on Capitol Hill.In times like these, the investing greats can serve as a source of inspiration, namely billionaire Israel “Izzy” Englander.Who exactly is Englander? The legend, who started trading stocks when he was in high school, began his career interning at investment firm Oppenheimer, later going on to purchase a seat on the American Stock Exchange, where he would serve as a floor broker, trader and specialist. In 1989, along with Ronald Shear, Englander founded hedge fund Millennium Management. As evidence of his stellar track record, the guru took the $35 million the fund was started with and turned it into over $40 billion in assets under management. With his personal net worth clocking in at $7.2 billion, it’s no wonder Wall Street pays attention when Englander makes a move.Bearing this in mind, our focus shifted to Millenium’s most recent 13F filing, which discloses the stocks the fund snapped up in the third quarter. Locking in on two tickers in particular, TipRanks’ database revealed that both names score a “Strong Buy” analyst consensus. What’s more, the analyst community sees massive upside potential in store for each.G1 Therapeutics (GTHX)Bringing a deep understanding of the biology of cancer and extensive drug discovery experience to the table, G1 Therapeutics works to develop therapies that could potentially improve the lives of patients battling the deadly disease. Ahead of a key regulatory decision, the Street is pounding the table on this name.During the third quarter, Englander and Millennium picked up a new stake in GTHX. Pulling the trigger on 555,937 shares, the value of the holding comes in at $6,421,000.Turning to the analyst community, Needham’s Chad Messer tells clients that he has high hopes ahead of the February 15 PDUFA date for trilaciclib, its therapy designed to improve outcomes for cancer patients treated with chemotherapy. The therapy’s NDA was accepted in August for Priority Review based on results from three randomized clinical studies in small cell lung cancer (SCLC), with the FDA indicating that it doesn’t plan on holding an advisory committee (AdComm) meeting. As trilaciclib is the first CDK4/6 inhibitor to be used to treat chemo-induced bone marrow toxicity, Messer argues that the lack of an AdComm is “meaningful.” Expounding on this, he stated, “We believe this reflects the agency's appreciation of the unmet need, comfort with the safety profile of the CDK4/6 class, and efficacy profile of trilaciclib.”GTHX will also focus on the inclusion of trilaciclib into NCCN guidelines. It should also be noted that a Phase 3 pivotal study evaluating the candidate in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) is set to kick off by year end.Adding to the good news, GTHX and its partner, Boehringer Ingelheim, are preparing for the commercial launch of trilaciclib, with the companies covering approximately 2,500 treating oncologists and providing educational materials regarding the use of trilaciclib ahead of treatment and the benefits of multi-lineage preservation. If that wasn’t enough, the rintodestrant (its selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD) in development for the treatment of estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer) plus palbociclib combination study was able to wrap up enrollment earlier than expected, reflecting “the appeal of an all-oral treatment regimen during a global pandemic,” in Messer’s opinion. With a data readout slated for Q2 2021, the analyst believes a “positive readout could prove to be a significant value driver.”In line with his optimistic approach, Messer reiterated a Buy rating and $74 price target, indicating 417% upside potential. (To watch Messer’s track record, click here)Are other analysts in agreement? They are. Only Buy ratings, 3 to be exact, have been issued in the last three months. Therefore, the message is clear: GTHX is a Strong Buy. Given the $59 average price target, shares could rise 312% in the next year. (See GTHX stock analysis on TipRanks)Epizyme (EPZM)Also fighting the good fight against cancer, as well as against other serious diseases, Epizyme wants to find new treatments through novel epigenetic medicines. Even though the company faces headwinds with regard to its recent product launch, several members of the Street believe big things are in store.Millenium purchased 461,258 shares during the third quarter, with the buy reflecting a new position for the hedge fund. As for the value of the holding, it lands at $5,503,000.Writing for Wedbush, 5-star analyst David Nierengarten points out that the pandemic has limited oncologist visits, and therefore, Tazverik (the company's follicular lymphoma treatment) sales were lower than he expected. He points out that “the pandemic shifts the launch curve to an ‘incidence model’ rather than a prevalence model, as there is a limited patient pool to draw from if they are delaying office visits,” with patients waiting to seek treatment until they experience symptoms of progression.Additionally, although the launch is virtual and physician awareness is high, physicians are opposed to prescribing a new medication without examining the patient in person. That being said, Nierengarten remains optimistic about the therapy.“Despite these headwinds, Tazverik came close to meeting our estimates, and it is gaining market share, including seeing initial sales in second line. We expect more meaningful second line sales to begin in 2021, and have more gradually incorporated them into our launch curve,” the analyst explained. When it comes to the time on therapy, Nierengarten argues it’s too early to come to any conclusions. However, he highlights the fact that durability of response was relatively long and patients were treated past progression in the registration study. “Furthermore, the headwind against switching therapies turns into a tailwind of Tazverik maintenance once a patient is on therapy. This will likely contribute more meaningfully to 2H21 revenues and potential revenue outperformance,” he added.Summing it all up, Nierengarten commented, “At current levels, we believe investors are too negative on Tazverik’s potential and patience should be rewarded.”Based on all of the above, Nierengarten sides with the bulls, reiterating an Outperform rating and $27 price target. This target conveys his confidence in EPZM’s ability to climb 122% higher in the next year. (To watch Nierengarten’s track record, click here)Most other analysts echo Nierengarten’s sentiment. 3 Buys and 1 Hold add up to a Strong Buy consensus rating. With an average price target of $23.25, the upside potential comes in at 91%. 'Wheel of Fortune' host Pat Sajak jokingly yells at 'ungrateful' contestant: 'I finally snapped!' - Talk Radio 1210 WPHT

Pat Sajak would like to buy an apology!

The “Wheel of Fortune” host temporarily lost his cool when a contestant questioned the wording of one of the phrases after correctly solving a puzzle, reported Yahoo News.

The incident occurred after contestant Darin McBain listed off “cabinet, oven, towels, sink” for things that begin with the word “kitchen.”

McBain then took issue with the terminology of “kitchen oven.”

“Kitchen oven?” McBain questioned. “What was that? Who calls it a ‘kitchen oven?’”

“You won! Don’t argue, Darin!” Sajak responded while laughing. “You got the puzzle! Ungrateful players, I’ve had it!”

To make sure he knew he was joking, Sajak quickly added, “No, I’m just teasing. I finally snapped!”

McBain, whose mother appeared as a contestant on the legendary show in the '80s, wound up in second place and took home $15,350. He also received another apology from Sajak

“I'm sorry I yelled at you,”the 74-year-old host later said. “It’s just — I don't remember your mother giving us trouble like you did.”

Earlier this month, it was revealed “Wheel of Fortune” is getting the celebrity treatment.

ABC announced that it greenlit to primetime a spinoff of the beloved game show titled “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.”

As the title indicates, celebrity contestants will get a chance to solve word puzzles and spin the famous wheel for charity.

Sajak and Vanna White, who have been co-hosting “Wheel of Fortune” since 1983, will join the celebrity version of the series.

The series will presumably premiere in 2021 though no date has been set.

Before you get too excited about Georgia’s 332-yard rushing performance against South Carolina, head coach Kirby Smart wants you to take into account that the Bulldogs were going up against a depleted South Carolina team.

“Let’s be honest. A lot of it has to do with the other team and what they do. So we don’t call a lot of different runs,” Smart said. “We didn’t go out and reinvent the wheel to run the ball. We played a team that had three or four guys out. They’re a very beat up football team.”

The 'Super Wheel' Claims to Offer Power Assistance Without a Motor... And We're Very Skeptical - Pinkbike.com

wheel.indah.link

An Irish inventor claims to have invented a bike wheel that offers pedalling assistance without the need for a motor and battery. If his claims were true then the invention would have massive potential, revolutionizing cycling as we know it. We're yet to be convinced that it actually works though.

The wheel has been developed by Hong Kong-born Simon Chan and he says it is a "basically... a simple idea." The Super Wheel has been in development since 2014 and Chan claims it uses springs and a "patented ‘Weight (mass) to energy conversion technology' (WECT)" to power the forward motion. Chan believes his wheel offers "over 30% improved assistance" but is hoping to increase that to 50% as his design gets more refined. Currently, no data has been published that demonstrates the efficacy of his invention and we are certainly very skeptical of his claims.

In his own words, the wheel works because "the action/reaction force caused by weight compresses the springs in the upper section of the wheel and decompresses in the lower section. Using the centre as the pivot, this converts energy and reduces the frictional force in the opposite direction and facilitates the rotation."

He later tried to explain it again to irishtechnew.ie and said, "SuperWheel is using the ‘Conversion of energy’ method to convert the reactive force of weight to turning power... The reactive force/energy is the extension/ link to weight, which is always there, but has never been used before. SuperWheel’s Weight-to-energy conversion technology diverting this force/energy to facilitate rotation, therefore, improve cycling efficiency."

A video showing the wheel in action is below:

If that word salad doesn't convince you or you're as skeptical of the claims of 'free energy' as we are then there's a patent application for the system, here. It's worth bearing in mind, patents are granted for originality, not functionality. It's also worth noting that the Royal Academy of Sciences in Paris stopped accepting proposals concerning perpetual motion in 1775.

It shouldn't be all that hard to prove if it works, and we'd be happy to try it the next time we do a Field Test efficiency test if Simon is keen.

Two versions of the wheel are available for pre-order now. One for riders under 75kg and one for riders over 75kg. The wheel costs €395 although we'd strongly recommend against placing an order until the technology is proven. More info, here.
